In May 2022, Kade was experiencing excessive thirst and weight loss. Kade ended up in the hospital with a diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes. Kade's first question to the doctor at the hospital was - "CAN I STILL PLAY HOCKEY?" The answer is yes; however, with T1D there are no days off and no cure but WE'RE STRONGER TOGETHER. Kade makes no excuses with T1D and because of the support from teammates, coaches, training staff, and the fantastic hockey community, Kade can thrive in the sport he loves.
